Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has stated that the ongoing operation in Tirah was launched without taking the provincial government into confidence and was imposed through force.

Chairing a jirga of tribal elders and local leaders from Khyber district, the chief minister discussed the law and order situation and the challenges faced by families displaced from Tirah.

During the jirga, tribal elders presented their suggestions and views regarding the restoration of peace and the dignified relocation and rehabilitation of the affected families.

The chief minister directed authorities to provide all possible facilities to the displaced families, assuring that the KP government would not abandon the people of Tirah in their time of need.

He emphasized that all political parties and schools of thought in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa agree that military operations are not a permanent solution, adding that the province seeks lasting peace and the complete elimination of terrorism.

Questioning past strategies, Sohail Afridi said that after 22 major and nearly 14,000 small operations, there is still no guarantee of peace, and decisions made behind closed doors cannot bring positive results if imposed on Tirah.

He added that tribal people have made immense sacrifices for the country, pledged to promote education over weapons, and said he stands firmly with his people, noting that public awareness has grown to distinguish truth from hypocrisy.
